Deidara stood outside of Iwagakure, watching the village from a distance with no visible emotion. He was wearing the Akatsuki cloak as usual, but none of the buttons were snapped closed, and it waved behind him from the slight wind.
He wasn't sure if there was a reason why he was there. Sure, it was his home village, where he used to live, but he was on no mission and he probably shouldn't be there anyway. He cupped his hands together and then took one hand away, revealing a clay butterfly. The gray insect fluttered off his hand and quickly into the sky, then with a bang exploded into different shades of blue. The sparks drifted downward then disappeared.
One corner of Deidara's mouth curved into a half smile. Doing meaningless stunts like that was a waste of clay, but it was art nonetheless.

The blue-eyed blonde towered over Kaida as she sat lazily on a grey boulder next to him, her dark cloak hung loosely around her shoulders. She drew distorted drawings in the dirt below her with the tip of her foot absentmindedly, sighing contently as she did. This mission wasn't exactly the easiest, and they had been constantly moving since the start. Why they were here, on the outside looking into the village of Iwagakure, and how they managed to get break was beyond her; however, she was happy for the chance to rest.
Occasionally, she would glance up at Deidara, taking note of the deep gash running across Iwagakure's symbol on his forehead protector, and trying to read his face, attempting to figure out what he was feeling or thinking at the moment. But his features remained blank, and he continued to be silent- an unusal happening for the blonde.
Kaida would drop her attention back to her pathetic illustations in the fine dirt, thinking in the silence. On one turn, her attention was snapped to the sky, as the rumble of an explosion reached her ears. She watched with fascination as the glittering blue sparks rained back to the earth, vanishing before they flitted gracefully to the ground.
A soft laugh of enthrallment escaped her lips. She had always enjoyed Deidara's creations; his works of art.

Only Deidara's eyes shifted down and to his side to look at Kaida when she laughed. He smirked fully now, then looked forward again to cotinue watching the village. He was relieved to be paired with Kaida for a mission like this one, instead of traveling with Sasori, who would have scolded him for using clay when it wasn't nessisary.
His visible eye scanned along the village outskirts. Did Pein-sama send him on this mission just to tear him apart? He didn't want anything to do with this village anymore. Although he was a bomber before he was forced to join the Akatsuki, he did still think about what life would have been like had he not left Iwagakure.
A deep breath filled his lungs and then he exhaled it. He was procrastinating, and he knew it. "What are you drawing, Kaida-chan, hm?" He looked down at the dirt by her foot.

Kaida opened her mouth to reply to his question, but her words were blocked when a realization hit her; she really had no idea what she was attempting to draw. She cast her gaze to the brown earth beneath her feet, scrutinizing it, trying to make out an image in the grains. But the russett powder revealed nothing to her clueless, bright orange orbs.
She sighed and shrugged. "I think it was a flower at one point...." she admitted, faintly remembering her attempt to design the delicate petals of a daisy-like flower in the sand. But she had ditched the effort, after realizing that the soil would not bend the way she invisioned in her mind. She let out a frustrated groan at remincing the trial, her eyes faded to a deeper, almost red orange.

Deidara smiled, glad to get his mind off of the task at hand. He studied her artwork in the soil. "You just had to make the petals thinner. Watch, hm." He croutched down and drew lines in the dirt with his finger over the ones she created. After a few moments, he stood up again and stepped back to look at the picture in the dirt.
His face looked disappointed, though the picture didn't come out bad. He shrugged his shoulders and turned around again to watch the village, his arms crossed over his chest. "Do we really have to go to this specific village?" He complained, already knowing the answer.

She cursed in her mind, annoyed that such a simple remedy for her disasterous creation has eluded her so easily as she watched Deidara crouch down in the sand below her. She watched as he took his finger and pulled it lightly through the sand, erasing the faults created by her own hands. A flustered orange paled to a satisfied baby blue when her eyes caught sight of the revised, more artistic bloom at her feet.
She turned, smiling up at him, but her appreciative grin faultered when she saw his expression. He looked....disappointed? But the flower was beautiful. Why would he have any reason to be disappointed? The answer made itself clear, though, when Deidara muttered a complaint about having to go to this particular village...
She reckoned they would get to this eventually. She sighed, expressing her understanding of his discontentment.
"That's what Leader-sama said..." she replied regretably, sliding off of the coarse rock, adjusting her cloak so that she was wearing it properly, leaving the snaps undone and mimking Deidara's style. I just kind of wish he he'd chosen another location... she thought to herself, maybe feeling a bit a remorse for the usually upbeat artist. Her eyes adjusted once again, darkening to a darker, morbid blue, as she went to stand next to him, looking out onto the horizon- towards the village.

Deidara could help but let out a heavy sigh. "I'm not much of a spy anyways, hm... I'm begining to think Leader-sama is just testing me hm..." He looked at Kaida beside him for a second, noticing her dark, gloomy blue eyes, then looked forward again. He didn't wany any pity and he wasn't meaning to make a scene out of going back to his original village. It made him upset with himself that he made Kaida feel badly for him.
"Let's go, hm," He jumped forward to land on another boulder, his fet making a clack sound as he did. He continued forward, jumping from boulder to boulder until the terrain was flat, where he simply sprinted forward and let his arms back as he ran, the cloak whipping and flapping behind him.

Kaida's face pulled slightly to a frown when Deidara made a comment about Leader-sama's intentions by assigning this mission; it made her question. Why, though? Her eyes flashed back to a vibrant orange as curiosity took over. She looked up in time to see Deidara whip back around and mumble a 'Let's go, un.' He leapt off bounding from rock to rock until he landed on level land. Kaida followed suit silently, still mulling over theories in her head.

Deidara continued running silently. They reached a sand colored path leading to the main gate, he knew because of his previous life there. Iwagakure wasn't the busiest of villages, no one would be likely to see them from outside of the gate.
He knew better than to attract attention to himself, so his signature tan clay bird wouldn't be helpful this time. Normally he would have used it to get to the top of the rock wall of the gate. This time he used a simpler method and used his chakra to run up the wall.
Once he was at the top, he stayed croutched, looking down on the rural village. "It's been a while since I've been here, but nothing's changed, yeah." Finally he was pleased to see his old home, and his lips curved into a smile. The village seemed empty and deserted, but he knew that everyone was still around. "So what did Leader-sama say, hm? Are we supposed to find out what these people know about the Akatsuki, or what?"

Kaida trailed closley behind her mission parnter, keeping a sharp eye out for any shinobi who would attempt to attack them or warn the village of their presence. Fortunately, they encountered none of the sort as they approached the towering rock wall that enclosed the village.
Deidara found means of overcoming the wall by concentrating his chakra and ascended up the wall. Kaida's, now smokey, form slithered up the wall, her body reappearing as Deidara reached the top.
She remained standing as Deidara crouched next to her, and a faint smile passed her lips as he reminiced. But the ghostly smile formed her signature smirk, as she began expalining their task.
"Well, seems as though capturing Tikani caused more of a stir than Leader-sama anticipated...having to bring back Hatake Kakashi helped with the fuss, I'm sure.." she added teasingly, sending her eyes downward, towards the blonde accusingly. She then picked her now calm, aqua eyes back up, looking down onto Iwagakure. "Konoha has alerted other villages, asking for any information they have on us. Leader-sama wants us to find out how much they know, and if relocating is necessary." She scanned the village lazily. "I figrued we'd sweep the town first, reveal how much the leaders are letting their people know about the situation, and if their gossip holds enough truth to catch us." Serene blue charged to an electrifying orange as slight excitement began streaming through her veins, and her smirk widened. "Then we move on to the head of the village...see just how much they really know..."

Deidara listened to Kaida's instrutions from the Akatsuki leader patiently, his visible eye scanning the village below them. He let out a distasteful, vengeful grunt at the mention of the Konoha ninja that had transported him into another dimention, but said nothing more about him.
"Hmmm..." He pondered once she was finished, a grin to match Kaida's darkening his expression. "Good plan, hm. We'll start on the outer rim of the village and work our way in, to avoid being seen. I'm sure someone is bound to be talking about us, yeah. I'm interested to hear what they've been saying hm."
He looked down at the bottom of the wall and surrounding it, to check for any shinobi. As he was expecting, there were none. He leaped off the stone wall and soared downward feet first, his open cloak whipping in the wind created. His feet touched to the ground with little noise and he croutched to lessen the impact, then stood up fully again and looked for the most hidden way they could enter the main part of the village.

Kaida nodded as Deidara elaborated on their plan. "Heh," was her amused chuckle in reply to Deidara's intrest in the town's rumors; she could only imagine the fabrications that had been made about them.
Again, Kaida's clothes and flesh were replaced by hazy smoke, and she streamed down the rock wall. When she reached the ground, she scanned the area, watching for sentries or village ninja as she rematerialized, starting from her head to her feet. As she had seen earlier up on the wall, the village seemed quite empty, so she predicted confrontations would be scarce, if any would happen at all. This theory proved to remain true as the 2 of them entered the outskirts of the town, without any intervention.
Kaida could have only been to this village maybe once, for their surroundings were unfamiliar to her. But still, she searched around, for an inconspicuous way get into village. She glanced at Deidara for assistance in this matter, assuming he would know the best way, being a native from the area.

Deidara glanced at Kaida as she reappeared next to him, then returned his gaze to the path he'd chosen as the most unnoticable to the center of the village.
"This way, hm," He murmered, then stealthily made his way through some of the tall grass that grew in various loctaions around the outskirts of town. After a few moments they were at the side of a chain of small buildings.
A few people entered the building that they were hiding next to. Deidara watched them, crouched at the corner of the structure, then turned so he was hidden from anyone's veiw and stood up.
He grinned at Kaida, then pointed upwards torwards the roof. "There's a vent on the roof, hn. We'll be able to hear them,"

Kaida's movements were silent as she and Deidara began navigating their way into the village. Soon, she stood behind him as he crouched down, peeking around the corner of a building they had found refuge behind. She waited patiently ebfore Deidara stood back up and pointed one of his fingers upwards, at the roof of the building. Her curious orange eyes glanced up in the direction while Deidara explained of a vent in the rooftop, perfect for evesdropping. A devious smirk appreared on Kaida's face, and her eyes bled to a mischevious gold, the edges rimmed with black. "Brilliant." In a matter of seconds, she was already scaling the wall with chakra, heading towards the top of the building. She kept herself aware of her surroundings, keeping herself from getting caught.
When she reached the top, she peered over the edge, then climbed over onto the roof when she saw that they were clear to go on with the plan. She searched around for the vent as she waited for Deidara.

Deidara looked around one final time, just to make sure no one was watching them scale the wall, then mimicked Kaida's technique and sprinted after her to the top of the building. Once he was standing on the roof, he walked lightly torwards the vent, making his footsteps quiet on purpose so no one would hear them from the floor below.
It was obvious Deidara was there before from the way he found the vent so easily. He sat in front of it, legs crossed, his cloak trailed behind him. He motioned Kaida over, then put his hands down in front of him and leaned forward, eager to hear what they were saying. A half of a grin was still plastered onto his expression.
