Deidara grit his teeth slightly. First of all, why was his friend from Iwagakure interested in the Akatsuki? At first Deidara had assumed it was because he missed his old aquantance and wanted to keep track of him, but now it just sounded like he wanted to get him into trouble. It seemed like his former friend would like to find him, not to reminis, but to turn him in to the ANBU.
Secondly, it frustrated him that they were being so sloppy. He'd relized Hidan and Kakuzu might have been in Sunagakure, and if they'd been spotted, that would mean a Sand ninja could have followed them back to the base. It was the same thing with Itachi and the Leaf ninja that saw him. All they needed now was for himself and Kaida to be spotted. That would really please Leader-sama...
Deidara kept his temper in check, for once, and listened to see if he knew any more. Without noticing he'd clenched his hands into fists.

Kaida glanced back at Deidara as she remained tuned into the conversation of the 2 ninja. She noticed he had tensed up immensely, even his hands had been curled into fists. He was furious, and she couldn't blame him. She found herself a little more than irritated, as well. These ninja knew way too much. And to top it all off, there was the big chance that the base had already been found, thanks to Hidan and Kakuzu's carelessness. But she couldn't help but feel like these 2 facts were not the only thing that was setting Deidara off.
"...I'll inform you immediately if anything else comes up," she heard the Leaf ninja state. She went back to watching the 2 from behind the boulder. "Good. Thank you." The Iwakagure shinobi expressed his gratitude as the Konoha ninja gave a small salute and gasped a rushed, "Hai!", before he went sprinitng off into the distance. The remaining man began making his way back into the village, moving to walk right past the rock they were hidden behind. She instantly grabbed Deidara's writst again, as she had done before, and they were both engulfed in the dull smoke once again. She watched cautiously as the man walked by and re-entered the village a few minutes later.
When she was sure that he was out of sight and earshot, she released Deidara's wrist, both of them appearing seconds later. Kaida slumped against the rock, both slightly tired and aggravated by the unpleasent news they had both heard. "Tch," she scoffed as she glared at another boulder in front of her. Her eyes held an alarming red.

Deidara let out a frustrated sigh and sat against the same boulder as Kaida, his forehead rested in his hands. 'Why would he want to find me and turn me in? If he honestly just wanted to know what I was doing, he wouldn't have told that other shinobi in the bar about the Akatsuki...'
He groaned in anger and frustration, then tipped his head back to rest it on the rough suface of the rock. He was to mad to even want to create something to cheer him up; one of his pieces of artwork.
And to add to that, Kaida and he would have to report back to the Akatsuki leader with the bad news that Hidan and Kakuzu might have been spotted in Sunagakure. What a fun mission...

Kaida listened to Deidara groan beside her, wanting to let out a few of her own, but reframing from doing so. She brooded silently, lifting her eyes to the sky. It was now she noticed, though her frustration, that it was darkening, and she gazed to the west to see that the sun was setting. This was usually a peaceful, soothing time for Kaida, but this sunset was an exception; it was just a reminder that they were that much closer to having to go back with a bad report for their already strained Leader. The painted horizon also declared that Deidara and she should probably find some place else to rest for the night, instead of remaining just outside the village, where they would most likely be found at some point. She sighed deeply, then stood, reluctantly, as she would rather continue just sit and stall their time going back to the base. She turned to hold a hand out to Deidara, as she spoke, trying to keep frustation from sounding in her voice. "We should find somewhere safer to rest up. Getting caught would not exactly help our situation." A frown found a way on her face without her knowledge. "Not that it would matter...we're probably already sunk anyways..." she mumbled, her eyes shining in anger.

Deidara shifted his gaze from the sky to Kaida once she offered him help up. He sighed, then grabbed her hand and pulled himself up. "Let's go back the way we came from, hn..."
This time, Deidara tossed a small clay bird onto flat land, and with a single handsign and a cloud of smoke, the small clay figure had turned into a large, greyish-tan bird. He leaped onto its back, almost 100 percent sure no one would notice outside the village. The bird flapped it's wings once and headed in the direction they first came from, going slow enough and low enough to the ground for Kaida to set any pace she wanted to.
"I'm sorry about how this mission went, Kaida-san, hn. I'll tell Leader-sama about the news if you don't want to, hn." He said, only loud enough for her to hear.

Kaida kicked some rocks as she walked along side Deidara's clay bird. Her eyes, now a deep blue with a lingering ring of firey red around her pupils, watched as the pebbled skipped across the gound as she knocked them around with her feet. She shook her head at Deidara's offer. "Eh, there's nothing for you to be sorry for, Dei-san; it's not your fault. And we got dragged into this together- we'll tell him together. That way, we're not alone if Leader-sama goes insane..." She smirked slightly as she looked up at Deidara.

Deidara grinned at Kaida's comment on their leader and looked down at her, then continued to look forward, still smiling slightly. He sat down crosslegged on the large bird's back as it flew slowly beside Kaida. "Sadly, there's a good chance that that might happen, hn." He said with a smirk.
Letting his emotions get the better of him, Deidara turned around a last time to watch Iwagakure get more and more distant. The sun setting to the side of the village made a smile creep onto his mouth, but a dissapointed one. He sighed.
"Kaida-chan, do you ever miss your original village, hm?" He asked in a serious tone, still watching Iwagakure and the beautiful sunset next to it.

Kaida nodded and laughed slightly, agreeing to the big possibility of their Leader losing his cool. She continued to walk next to Deidara's large, clay bird as it flapped its great wings with little noise.
She began concocting ways to best divulge the dire news to Leader-sama that would upset him the least. However, her planning was interrupted by a rather somber question from her partner. His inquiry earned a slightly confused stare from Kaida. When her eyes reached him, she saw that he was looking back on Iwagakure, a sad, and she thought, faintly longing smile playing faintly on his lips. Her thoughts found their way back to his question. She pondered it in her mind, trying to find the words to answer. She knew that their situations were very different; she chose to leave her village while he was forced to leave his. She could understand that he would miss Iwagakure, she thought he was entitled to. But she couldn't say the same for herself. Did she still hold the right to miss Konoha after she had so willingly left it? Despite this question, she breifly thought back to her days in the village, and she admitted to herself that she wished she could do the things she used to do and spend time with the people she did back then, including her mother... She came to a quick conclusion before her thoughts could linger on a deeper subject, the turmoil in her head turning her eyes to a deep blue. "I...I guess I do...when I think about it.."she confessed, though a deeper feeling told her that who she was really missing was her mother. But she attempted to direct her attention and thoughts on how Deidara was feeling at the moment.

Deidara turned to look forward again after listening to Kaida's responce. His longing half smile faded after a few moments and he shook his head, dissapointed in himself that he would ask her that. Just because he was upset about his former village didn't mean Kaida had to be, too.
"Sorry, un..." He muttered, feeling slightly embarrassed for asking in the first place. He couldn't help but start to think about his friend again, the one who wanted so much information on the Akatsuki. But if he'd seen Deidara there, he would have done anything but been his friend again. He wondered where his own family was when he was just in the village. If they saw him, would they want to turn him in, too? He regretted not looking for them while he was still inside Iwagakure's walls.

Kaida just shrugged, in a sort of attempt to shake the reoccuring thoughts of her past, while consoling Deidara. "Don't be..." she sighed. It was quite hard to see Deidara like this, when one was so used to his more upbeat disposition. It caused her to search for a way in her mind to bring him back to his usually buoyant personality. She assumed that he would become more cheerful grandually, but at the moment his happiness remained in the walls of the village... Kaida bit her lip, barring an idea that had suddenly formed in her mind from slipping out of her mouth. She wanted to speak her mind, but she was skeptical to see how he would react. She also knew that this wasn't part of the mission they were assigned. But it would add more time in between the point when they met hell at home. Besides, she thought it would be worth it if Deidara would be happy again. "We could...go back...if you wanted..." she suggested, unusually hesitant. "I mean...we finished pretty early- Leader-sama doesn't expect us for at least a few days..." She gradually regained her confidence as she continued explaining. "And our mission was to get information; somebody might know something more about us that we need to know, ya know? Maybe something we can't afford to miss..." Sarcasim found her voice, encouraging Deidara to go along with it. Though some of her poise had returned, her dark green eyes still portrayed the skeptisism of his response.

Deidara's attention turned to Kaida once she mentioned going back. He looked down at her, his eyebrows creased with curiousity. "Hm?" He listened to the rest of her explanation. Once she was through, a wide smile had formed on his mouth, instead of the previous, more regretful one.
He admired Kaida for not being so formal, like most of the other Akatsuki members would have been in her situation. He was positive Sasori would've never suggested going back to the village, just because he missed it.
"Thank you, Kaida-chan, hn." He said, still grinning at her. He uncrossed his legs and hurriedly shifted to sit in a position where he was more balanced. Suddenly he reached down and grabbed Kaida's wrist, then pulled her up to sit behind him, at the same time the giant clay bird quickened it's speed and turned back to Iwagakure. It soared higher into the air, flapping its wings more rapidly to gain speed and altitude.

Kaida's doubtful eyes shimmered to a warm orange once she saw the bright smile appeared on Deidara's face. "No problem," she said in response to his gratitude. A small, suprised gasp sounded from her lips as Deidara abruptly pulled her up onto the giant bird. She found herself sitting behind Deidara as they began gaining altitude, the ground becoming more distant by the second. She unconsciously grabbed the back of Deidara's cloak, not out of fear, but out of not knowing what the next move was going to be, her eyes resuming a skeptical forest green. With her smoke form, she could control her movements, and she would know exactly where she was going. But she wasn't the one pulling the strings this time; she just had to trust Deidara. This, however, was not difficult for Kaida, for she knew he had been doing this for most, if not all, of his life. He knew what he was doing.

Deidara's luminous grin never faded as the bird stopped gaining altitude, but maintained it breakneck speed. The wind whipped at both Kaida and Deidara's cloaks and hair, but he didn't seem to mind. It actually looked as though he enjoyed the adrenaline rush. They were soon past the village wall, overlooking Iwagakure from very high above.
They finally slowed down and the large bird glided to the right silently and gracefully. Deidara leaned forward to search below them for his destination. He'd seen this village from the arial veiw countless times before, but he hadn't for a long time. Finally he spotted the right place, and a look of recongnition showed in his expression.
He turned to sit sideways on the giant birds back, then looked at Kaida. "Since we don't really want the attention of the whole village, we're going to have to jump, hn. I'm sure you don't mind, but just for the record, I've done this before. We'll land on that flat roof of that building, yeah," He pointed down to a level rooftop. The bird started to dive downward slowly towards where Deidara had pointed to.

Kaida relaxed as they continued to speed through the sky, forest green eyes blooming into a clear blue as the wind rushing past her seeming to take any lingering doubts from her. She looked down below as they passed over the stone wall they had overcome before. She could feel their speed die down as the great bird soared over the rooftops.
Suddenly, Deidara turned to her, explaining that to enter the village inconspicuously, that they would have to jump. He also reassured her, telling her that he had done this previously. She glanced down below her, to their desination: a flat rooftop. She turned back to him, nodding, her eyes shining a bright, thrilled orange. They inched towards their landing site. "Let's do this then," she replied, preparing to jump.

A smile appeared on Deidara's lips again, glad that Kaida trusted him, and was willing enough to jump. He looked forward again, getting ready to jump.
The bird swooped downward quickly for only a few seconds, and Deidara leapt off of it's back and swiftly landed on his feet on top of the flat rooftop after falling for a couple seconds. The bird quickly changed direction once no one was on it's back anymore, and rocketed off into the air.
Deidara looked around for a few moments. Finally his gaze landed on a wide dirt path and he walked forward, torward the edge of the roof. He took a seat by the edge, his legs crossed and his wrists sitting on top of either knee. He smiled slightly and watched down the dirt path patiently. "I used to live here, in this house, un," He said quietly to Kaida, then returned his attention to the path below them. "It's weird to be back here after so long."
